Do Snakes have the hearing ability ?

Snakes have no ears on the outer sides of their heads, thereby meaning that they do not hear airborne sounds as we do. They are very sensitive to vibrations felt through the ground.

A snake can easily detect someone coming by feeling the ground shaking under the person's feet. Most snakes can see very well.

Snakes notice their prey more by movement than by shape or colour. They have a very keen sense of smell. They can recognize prey animals, enemies and each other by odours.

In fact, snakes have such a highly developed chemical sense that they can follow the trail of another animal like a well-trained hound.

Even though the snakes are deaf, their other highly developed senses make up for the loss.
